Rev. M. Cristina Paglinauan to lead All Saints services July 19 and 26
The Church of All Saints by-the-Sea is happy to announce the return of the Rev. M. Cristina Paglinauan to the Southport Island Episcopal chapel to lead services of Holy Communion for the next two weeks at 8 and 10 a.m. Our organist for July 19 will be Timothy Wissler and for July 26, Henry Lowe will lead our musical worship. People of all faiths are invited to attend the services. The Rev. Paglinauan will also lead a discussion of the week’s scripture passages on the porch of the chapel on Tuesday mornings, July 21 and 28 at 9 a.m. Worshippers of all faiths are welcome to attend all gatherings.
Rev. Paglinauan is associate rector for Community Engagement at The Church of the Redeemer, a vibrant, growing parish of 725 households in north Baltimore, where she has served since August 2010. In her current position, she oversees Redeemer’s community partnerships and serves on the leadership team of BUILD, Baltimoreans United In Leadership Development, and on the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland’s Congregational Vitality team. A certified yoga instructor, she introduced and leads yoga church at Redeemer.
Prior to becoming a priest, Cristina enjoyed a variety of work, learning and travel experiences, which including managing a genetics research lab in Boston; serving as a public health intern on the Navajo Reservation in New Mexico; teaching in Baltimore, San Francisco, and Estes Park, Colorado; and living in a monastery in Israel where she coordinated an interfaith service-sailing trip for Jewish, Christian, and Muslim youth. Cristina, her husband David Warner, a history teacher at The St. Paul’s Schools for Girls in Brooklandville, Maryland and two children, Grace and Ben, love being part of the All Saints by-the-Sea community and visiting Maine in the summer, including hiking and seeing nearby family and friends.
All Saints by-the-Sea is on Southport Island on All Saints Road about two miles on the left driving south on Route 238/Cape Newagen Road. An Episcopal Church sign marks the side of the road. Parking is available along Route 238 or in a limited number of handicapped spaces at the chapel parking lot on All Saints Road. A golf cart will ferry persons from the handicapped lot to the chapel steps. The waterfront pier and dock are available on Sundays for friends desiring to attend services via boat. The beautiful, simple wood chapel is open for quiet prayer and meditation during the week.
